Venture Capitalist Almost everybody uses Facebook, Google, or Amazon. These companies started in the last 30 years. They all needed the help of early investors to get started or grow. Movies like The Social Network show the process of founding a company like Facebook. They portray fictionalized accounts of the founders and their investors. But few people know what a Venture Capitalist (VC) is. A Venture Capitalist is an investor that specializes in new companies. These companies often cannot get capital from other sources. Investing can refer to public stocks of Fortune 500 companies. Large tech companies often had the support of VCs when they were new. The job of a VC mimics a couple of more well-known jobs: a Judge, Coach, and Curator. Who You Are Matters

I come from a family of first-gen Americans building a life half-way across the world as their childhood. I'd like to be a successful investor and then give back to better the communities that benefited me. I'll get there by putting a lot of effort into being the best at what I do and not forgetting where I'm from. One way I'm like my parents is that I'm super loyal and remain committed to things I want. One way I'm not like my parents is that I'm a perfectionist. I would say that I have developed the expectation for myself to hold myself to really high standard as I want to be able to build something in my life that lasts beyond me. Because of that, I would say I live under my own expectations and not others' expectations for me. One model for me would be a family friend who is a couple years older than me.
